3 top tips

  1. Nothing ever stays the same so trust that things will change and work in your favour.
  2. Help the person, help the team. Helping others is not only rewarding but also productive.
  3. Don’t overthink how you can support someone. Sometimes it’s the smallest of things that have the biggest impact, for example, just saying you believe in someone.

Tom

I found myself in an unsatisfying job, overworked, under-paid and completely unappreciated. I had no direction, no focus and nothing that was giving me purpose.

I made the decision to leave my role with nothing else lined up, and no idea where I was going next. I had lost all faith in the management and values of office 9-5 environments but knew, for now, that I needed to get back on the “grind” and hopefully find something that I’m passionate about.

Low on confidence, no real hope and anxious about another office job, I went for an interview with Physiofusion, ultimately changing everything I believed to be true and gave me a sense of purpose. my managing director, Sorrel, isn’t your average director – she really reached out to me and guided me with intention. I was allowed to fail and I was allowed to grow.

I’ve never been ‘mentored’ until I met Sorrel, and I was able to see the true value of learning from someone that has been there and done it all, with success! Time is the most precious thing we have, and I was shocked that someone in Sorrel’s position was willing to give up her time in order to help make me not just a more accomplished professional, but a better person. From training and courses, to personal support I was given every tool possible better myself.

I remember when she was due to have her first child, she basically asked me if I had everything I needed and if I felt comfortable in my role. Hesitantly I replied yes and then I was practically left to run the marketing department. I was slightly terrified and doubted my ability, but this was the best thing she could have done. She had more faith and confidence in me than I had myself, and again, I was shocked somebody believed in me the way she did. The time and effort Sorrel has put in to both my professional and personal wellbeing is like nothing I have experienced anywhere else and in my near 5 years of working here, I’m a completely different person to the one I was when I first walked in the door.

In terms of my career, I will forever be indebted to the effort and belief put in me.
