What’s The Story?
Six Connections started over 20 years ago, when I met Ian in a registration line on my first day at Uni.
One simple sentence “Got a pen mate?” started a conversation and a connection. Through uni and the years after, we were close. Mates for the distance. The proper sort! In September 2011, Ian took his own life.
I struggled for many years, hiding from how I really felt for a long time. It wasn’t easy, but with the support of the people around me, I started to talk more openly about how I was really doing. Usually over a brew or a beer.
If I could work through this, it felt like others could too. I wasn’t an expert, but with time and the right direction, I knew that, like me, everyone could learn more about managing their own mental health, what expert advice is available and what genuinely supporting others looks like.

Little By Little
In 2020 we launched Mindsight, dedicated to flipping the focus on mental health, in and beyond the 9 to 5. Removing stumbling blocks, ditching tick box and reducing stigma.
Always person centred, Mindsight was different and we loved that. Solutions for the many, not just the few. Mental health conversations in the everyday. As normal as a pair of Adidas trainers or chatting about your favourite vinyl.
March 2020, two weeks after launch, the world changed. A LOT! A global pandemic halted the plan. We were struggling and so were others. So we got together over a brew. Sharing a coffee or a beer with a pal had helped me, so why not?
Roast & Toast was born. A space to feel comfortable and take time to breathe. Everyone involved. Authentic and healthy solutions for all. Real people with real stories, creating a wave of genuine care across the country. This was unique. But it wasn’t enough…
Roll With It
In 2021 Six Connections was born. Initially with beers and coffees, designed to help start the conversation around mental health. In normal places like the pub or at the footy. Products linked to conversation, to get the conversation going, with linked web support and training to back up the chat.
Helping mates to talk and support each other. Making those tough conversations easier. One healthy conversation being the catalyst for another, for six others, six more and then six more. For mates. Powered By Mates.
In January 2022, Mindsight became Six Connections Community. The social part of the family. Community focused and always giving back. Making real conversation accessible to all.
Six Connections is more than workplace wellbeing or a one off course. Six Connections Community is more than just charity. Together we’re building a genuine, positive culture, that starts with you. We’re going to save the world. We’d like you to come with us.
